Abstract

Organic-inorganic hybrid materials through sol-gel method have the possibility to become new materials having both advantages of the organic materials such as the light-weight, flexibility, and good mold ability, and of the inorganic materials such as the high strength, heat-stable, and chemical resistance. In this study, the plasticized poly vinyl butyral (PVB)/silica hybrid films were prepared by mixing silica sol with PVB under their co-solvent to enhance the thermal/mechanical properties of plasticized PVB film, and produce high-performance laminated glass experimentally using the improved PVB as an interlayer film.
